Is our last night here! We dived 28m deep today. It was so incredible despite the visibility wasn’t optimal. Diving with Sonia was pretty great. She is cool and I really like her. The boat out for our adv. dived was way better than the previous boat ride. I actually had more fun this time round probably because we are more comfortable and the people on board were funny as well. What I really like about diving is that when I could feel the seawater gets cold out of the suddenly as we dive deeper, known as the thermocline. After our boat dive, we went back, had lunch, spent time at the diving centre again and this time longer. We met new friends; Yong and Katherina? And we all had dinner together at the restaurant. Dinner was too filling; stingray, bbq chicken, vegetable and rice. Haha! We spent our night bonding with Bob, Danial, Yong and Katherina, since it was ours and yong’s last night here. It was 10.30PM and we headed back to our room. And we killed a spider (a size about 10 cm?) with an insect repellant and we spent a night with a cockroach, not sure if it is dead. o:
Goodbyes are so bittersweet.
We had our advanced open water course started this morning with Faizal (our main instructor). We did navigation with the compass, and semi-perfected our buoyancy control today. Not only that, we learnt to stay afloat 180 degree facing down (head towards sea ground), as well as turns and rolls deep down! It was so fun! I kept swimming away from both W and the instructor because I swam at a faster speed, comparing to them both. I enjoyed diving with Faizal, he made diving safer. After the dive, we went back to our room and prepared ourselves for theory lesson. Then, we made ourselves at home at the diving centre, together with the crew; Faizal, Bob and Danial. Faizal left for family week and tomorrow we will be diving with a freelancer instructor named Sonia. I hope we will be okay! After that, we walked around the jetty, taking photos, talking to strangers and playing with cats until it was time for dinner at 6PM. The clouds were so grey and it was so windy. I loved how it blew my hair to face and I could smell the salt water of the sea. It rained heavily when we were ordering our food at the restaurant. While waiting, both W and I played darts and chatted up with an old couple from Canada? Today’s dinner was good, we had fish with rice, the fish tasted so fresh and delicious. We retreated back to our room early, watched Stoker the movie from my phone after shower. We talked about the movie for awhile before sleep.
Boat ride out to house reef was horrible. I was having seasick after the first dive, 18m deep. Second dive was 10m? Before the second dive we had to chill for an hour before heading back down, due to the high nitrogen level in our body. Even after 12 hours, I’m still feeling sick like i am still in the water although I’m lying down on the bed. Met great people on the boat out; people around the world. The experiences they shared on the boat was so surreal and fascinating. It felt like I never really lived my life to the fullest. And yet, they thought about how they never live theirs to the fullest. A guy named Richard told me that i looked beautiful (which was funny because I always looked like shit after a swim). Okay! obviously trying to hit on me. He offered to buy drinks but we lived in the different location in the island, too far away from each other. I would love to get a drink with him despite knowing that it is not going anywhere.
After the boat dive, we headed back for lunch and nap. At 6PM we prepared ourselves for the night dive with Daniel, the other instructor. The night dive was scary honestly. I panicked a little, but 10 mins into it. I was feeling comfortable until 36 mins later, I suddenly wasn’t doing well because I couldn’t deflate my BCD and was floating back up to the surface. Haha! Danial wasn’t like Faizal, he trusted us with our bouancy skills and that he doesn’t tell us when to deflate or inflate on BCD or our breathing skills. Faizal will always be our best diving instructor but having Daniel for the night dive allowed me to gauge how well I can do if I’m on my own.
This whole trip wasn’t just the best of the best but also an eye opener experience for me.
Today’s dive was great. I’m getting used to the breathing technique and i am able to stay calmer now. After the course, we went to floating platform at the middle of the sea during our free time. We snorkelled there and also the entire acceptable area and found ourselves at some high rocks where we plunged ourselves into the sea. W, us, made some friends, but they were communicating in Malay hence i was sitting at one corner enjoying soaking in the sea water and being contented with landscape view myself. Marc, a New Zealander guy we met was really considerate. He was paddling around the sea on his canoe to pick up litter. How nice! We waited for sunset, letted our body absorbed sun while we chatted and allowed ourselves to be left alone with our own thoughts. The whole experience was fabulous and the funny thing is I thought I already had the best trip of my life but THIS! This diving trip topped all of my other overseas experiences!
We headed back for dinner, I had aglio olio w. extra linguine while W had hamburger. The fries was good, I liked how the fries tasted.
Today was pretty great. We dived for an hour and half and about 12m deep. The water was really clear and we saw corals and fishes. I think we are lucky, as open water course should be done in the pool and not to the sea first? Both W and I learnt pretty fast, the breathing techniques and the signals. I am pretty impressed by myself, tbh. I had been a vegan for the past 5 days and after today’s dive I thought I wanted to reward myself with a good lunch. We had burger, not really filling for my stomach but it was delicious. We head back, rested and watched Pride and Prejudice movie from my phone. The movie that we both watched a gazillion times and still find it downright romantic. At 1.30PM we proceed for our next theory lesson, to prepare tomorrow’s dive. We were done at 4.30PM and decided to went out to explore a bit, took photos and bought snacks back to our room. We finished the next half of the movie while snacking and napped.
It is 8.30PM and I decided to head out myself to get some air. I found myself walking towards the jetty and standing in the middle of it, mesmerising the starry night and its breeze. In this moment, I feel stronger and really contented- something I did not know I am capable to feel after so long or could be something I never thought I am capable to feel from the start. And this is a feeling I want to remember my whole life.
Few days ago, I thought how hard it is to forget you but now, I think I am able to do it. To let you go and keep in mind that you are just someone I used to know, someone who wasn’t able to accept the way i am and probably also someone I unknowingly fallen for from the very beginning.
I went back and W wanted dinner. W had Hongkong noodle and i had chicken chop for dinner. The food was awful tbh. So disappointing 😦
Went Kukup, Malaysia last weekend with my colleagues. Stayed at Piggy house, it was an enormous apartment. There were 14 of us and 3 bedrooms were open for us. Each room have at least 3 or more queen size bunkbeds. We stayed for a night, and left the next day. There wasn’t much activities to do over there, only mahjong, karaoke, massage and putting fireworks or/and paper lantern. The karaoke was quite disappointing because most of the latest and hits songs couldn’t be found. But, it was okay, we did managed to stay entertained throughout our stay and somehow it brought us closer. Their tele has USB port, so we are able to watch movies via our thumbdrive. The people there were so nice and I like how they feed us food on time (no one complained about feeling hungry once), also they tried so hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The only downside was that the whole place smelt like sewage. I honestly felt sad for the people staying there ): Overall, it was a good two days, one night trip and glad that every one of us made it.
